Women's Bible Study

  • Pilgrim Canadian Reformed Church 266 High Street London ON Canada (map)

It's time to take up our daily study of Joshua 7&8. Lynda Schouten will be our discussion leader for the evening. Outlines 6&7 of the book "Outlines on the Book of Joshua" by R.H Smit deal with Ai, Achan and covenant renewal at Mt. Ebal and Mt. Gerazim Study guides are also attached to assist with our daily study/journalling

Some questions we hope to discuss:
1. Why did Joshua build the altar at Mt. Ebal and Mt. Gerizim?
2. Why did the body of the king of Ai remain hanging on a tree until evening?
3 What do we learn about God in how he shows his displeasure with the sin of Achan? Is it possible to commit sin that harms no one but the sinner?
4. What do we learn in this passage about repentance and seeking restoration?

In line with the theme of covenant promises and obligations, our memory work will be:

Deut. 7:9,10a
Therefore know that the LORD  your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments; and He repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them.

In order to love God and keep His commandments, Jesus himself instructed that we must love the LORD our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind and with all our strength. Please pray that, as we Pilgrim sisters submit to the instruction of His Word, that our hearts would be transformed, our souls would be made joyful, our minds trained and our strength renewed, to the praise of His glory!
