We will be studying Joshua 13-19 "The Apportioned Inheritance".  In these chapters the land is divided among the 12 tribes and we will begin to understand more fully why the Lord prepared Joshua for the task in Chapter 1 with these words "Be strong and of good courage for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them." Why does the Lord need to encourage Joshua for this particular task?

"He gave them the lands of the Gentiles, and they inherited the labour of the nations, that they might observe His statutes and keep His laws. Praise the LORD!"
