At this meeting we will be delving into the first chapter of "Growing in the Gospel" by Dr. J. VanVliet. Like last year, we will prepare for our meeting by reading through our selected Scripture reading every day prior to the meeting, jot notes in our journals as we go and read through our book chapter as well. It would be especially helpful if we mull on the "Questions for Further Discussion" prior to our meeting (maybe make them a point of discussion at the family dinner table :)).
The suggested Scripture reading for Chapter 1 is 1 Corinthians 2 and 2 Timothy 4:1-5.
As we study together, as sisters in Christ, we will see how the Holy Spirit lays the glorious gospel and sound doctrine side by side and connects it to daily living. May we grow in the gospel and may the Bride of Christ be built up, to His glory.
“Growing in the Gospel - Sound doctrine for Daily living’ by Jason Van Vliet explores the central truths of Scripture so that those who are already familiar with the basics of the Christian faith continue to grow in understanding the height, breadth, and depth of God’s Holy Word. At the same time, our God gave us sound doctrine for daily living. Thus, each chapter draws connections to everyday life as it is experienced by moms and dads, teens and young adults, married and unmarried, as well as people who are healthy, sick, happy, and distressed - in short, real people living real lives in a really broken world.
